Marcelo Potosí, a Kichwa-Otavalo Indigenous artist born in Otavalo, Ecuador, was raised in San Francisco, California. He earned an Associate's degree in Graphic Design from City College of San Francisco before completing a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art at San Francisco State University. Rooted in his Indigenous heritage, Marcelo's artwork delves into the culture, traditions, and history of his ancestors. Through his creations, he seeks to honor and stay connected with Pacha Mama (Mother Earth) and the cosmology of Andean civilizations. In addition to exploring these deep cultural ties, Marcelo is acutely aware of contemporary social issues, and some of his pieces reflect his ongoing concerns and reflections on modern society.
