2024 marks a year to commemorate the Native peoples of the Bay Area, and the San Francisco Arts Commission selected four artists to create work that reflects their legacy. As one of the selected artists, my illustrations focus on themes of connection with Mother Nature, the interdependence of fauna and flora, community, sovereignty, and the revitalization of Indigenous culture. In today’s society, it is crucial that Indigenous groups are not only recognized but also that their rich culture and history are honored.
